About Me
"In any given moment we have two options: to step forward into growth or to step back into safety." ~Abraham Maslow
My name is Melissa Koch and I empower people to face the issues that are causing difficulties in their lives. I understand the challenges that can arise when confronting life’s obstacles, because I have seen friends, family, and myself overcome our own struggles. I primarily utilize Somatic Experiencing and attachment theory to help clients work through the underlying symptoms of disconnection, chronic pain, relational difficulties and many other concerns. Additionally, I have training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Throughout my career I have worked in community mental health, substance use treatment settings, and eating disorder treatment settings.. From 2012-2016 I volunteered with the Missouri Eating Disorder Association. I have seen how stepping into a new phase of life, disconnection, and Relational concerns can affect individuals and families and I am confident that I can support you in reaching your goals on your journey.
